Cabinetry finds uses in many areas of our homes beyond kitchens and bathrooms. Cabinets can be used to turn a utilitarian laundry room into a high-end, and highly functional, space that is a pleasure to use. Cabinets can be used to add service bars to man caves and outdoor entertainment areas. Cabinets can transform a mundane walk-in closet into a luxurious dressing room while providing more useful storage. Quality cabinetry can also be used in your garage to provide additional storage while serving as a suitable complement to that special ride you might have parked inside.
Don't get boxed in by the limitations of stock cabinetry. With custom cabinetry, the sky is the limit. Utilize every inch of your available space by getting cabinets that are the exact size you need. Get the finish, color, and style just as you want. Add amenities such as slide out shelves, self-closing drawers, lazy Susans, etc. Delete the toe kick, rise/lower the counter height from the standards. Add doors to the back-side of a cabinet for islands and peninsulas. Add corbels, brackets, pilasters, pedestals, moldings, and rosettes to your hearts content. Include matching cabinet panels for your refrigerator and dishwasher to hide them away for that old-world look. Add a free-standing pantry that matches your cabinets. Create a complementary island. When you go custom, there are practically no limits.
Plus, design services are part of the deal. I will work with you on your layout, offer design options, and work up detailed renderings for you. We'll iterate as long as necessary until we get things where you like them. Don't get overwhelmed by all the options. I will go over everything with you and make recommendations, if needed.
As is the nature of custom cabinetry, each application will vary. However, the typical JDDFW cabinet features all plywood carcass construction with dado joints. Solid wood half-lapped face frames that are held to the carcass with dado joints. Solid hardwood 5-piece drawer boxes with through dove-tail joints in front and back. Drawer boxes have plywood bottoms and ride on hidden, full extension, self-closing drawer slides. Doors are solid wood frame and panel construction using cope and stick joinery. Decorative panels on exposed cabinet sides are integrated into the cabinet carcass, giving cabinets that custom look.
For many people, knowing what they need is the easy part. Finding what they need is the hard part. Custom made furniture allows you to bring functionality, size, style, and color together to meet your exact needs, without compromise. With custom furniture, you get the piece you need, the size that fits your space, and the looks that complement your existing furniture and style.
Whether you need night stands, a sofa table, a dresser, a dining table, an armoire, a desk, or just about anything else, I will work with you to give you the piece you want. If you've found a picture of a piece but its not available for purchase, if you can't find a piece that will work with your existing furniture, if you found a piece but its the wrong color, or if you have very specific size requirements, I might be able to solve your problems.
I work in all species of wood and can match nearly any finish.
There's something special about owning a hand crafted, one-of-a-kind piece that you've commissioned. You're style and preferences come to life in an heirloom-quality piece that will enjoy a special place in your home. And with a custom-commissioned piece, you'll never worry about a friend coming over and saying, "Hey, my cousin has the exact same thing!"
Who doesn't love built-ins? They can add style and sophistication to any space. They have the ability to turn those odd little nooks and crannies that are so hard with to deal with into the focal points of our homes. They give us more storage space, both for the things we prefer to hide away and for the things we want to display. They allow us to showcase our style and decorate with the seasons. If you think about it, there really aren't many downsides to adding a built-in.
Turn your bay window into cozy bench seat perfect for sipping coffee, reading a book, and gazing at the world outside. Give your television the home it deserves by making it a showpiece to enjoy on movie nights. Use that dead space on either side of your fireplace to add valuable storage and to display all your books, photos, and other precious items. Built-ins can make a closet more usable for storage or transform it completely into something different, like an office space. With a little vision and imagination, they can improve our living spaces in so many ways.
With built-ins, I typically use all the same construction techniques that go into my cabinetry to ensure they will last for many, many years. I'll incorporate your existing electrical outlets and heating vents into the design. Wires will be hidden from view. Shelves will not sag over time.
And, as always, you get my design service. Since we're not limited by the use of stock cabinetry, we'll create what you want, not what is practical to make.
